I am trying to login to the library resources and am getting an error message. How can I login?

Answer

If you see the error message - This is loginbu.htm from the docs subdirectory. This file is sent if the username/password is not valid. - your login or password has been entered incorrectly or is incorrect. 

Check that: 

  • your login uses your SMTAFE ID number only
  • your password is your SMTAFE password

Still seeing the error message?

  • are you using the default password? This is tafewa + your date of birth.
  • is your password more than 6 months old?
  • is your password less than 14 characters long?
  • does your password have a part of your name, date of birth or the word password in it?
  • have you used this password for TAFE before?

If you have answered "yes" to any of these questions please reset your password (make sure it meets the complexities outlined in https://www.southmetrotafe.wa.edu.au/current-students/sm-tafe-microsoft-365-student-account). 

Please ensure you have set up your Multifactor Authentication (MFA) too.
