If we have a library subscription for a journal, can we upload a PDF of a specific article into the LMS rather than students having to find the article themselves?

Answer

In most cases, staff need to rely on the text and artistic licence to copy and upload specific articles into an LMS. However, this then limits how much of the article can be reproduced (approximately 10%) and an attribution is required. Some journals may allow reproductions of their articles; always check the T&Cs of the journal you require.

Linking is a better option and linking to specific articles in a journal is generally possible. Students on campus who are logged into Blackboard can click on the link and be directed straight through to the journal/article. It’s only when students are off-campus and they click on the link that they will need to log-in again with their student ID in order to access the journal/article.
